May 2025 Update:

Urgent Aid in Gaza and Support for Displaced Palestinians in Egypt

9

The need hasn’t slowed. Since mid-Ramadan, Gaza has been under even tighter restrictions. Food can’t get in. Prices are high. Markets are nearly empty. And still—thanks to you—we showed up in May with real, urgent help.

Your donations didn’t just keep things moving. They let us scale up. With extra support from your donations this month, we went from $60,400 in April to $104,000 in May.

Because of that, we delivered more meals, doubled water trucks, and responded fast when moms asked for baby items and clothes for Eid. In Egypt, we helped displaced families cover rent and medical bills. None of this would’ve happened without your support.

The Struggle on the Ground

Since the food blockade began, our Gaza team has had to search daily for ingredients in whatever local markets are still operating. They prep what they can find and cook it into huge meal pots—each one feeding around 280 people.

Even with the food crisis, we increased our cooking output and added a second water truck. On May 29, we couldn’t gather enough food to cook—but we didn’t stop. We pivoted. We focused on water, clothing, and baby needs. When moms asked for diapers and clothes for their kids, we made it happen.

And in Cairo, 12 Palestinian families who escaped the bombing received rent and medical aid. These families can’t legally work in Egypt. Many are still healing. They still need us. And we showed up.

How May’s $104,000 Was Spent

Meal Aid: 33,900+ Plates Served in Gaza

In May, we cooked and served thousands of hot meals across North Gaza through our local kitchens (tikeas).

Our kitchens ran 30 out of 31 days this month. The team cooked and served over 33,900 meals. We missed just one day—May 29—because there wasn’t enough food in the markets. Still, we adapted and kept going.

At just $1.45 per meal, this is our most cost-effective program. And more than that—it brings warmth, routine, and survival to thousands of people living through crisis.

Water Trucks: 465,000 Liters Delivered

We doubled our daily water deliveries to meet growing needs and limited food access.

In May, we delivered 465,000 liters of clean water across North Gaza using 50 truckloads. Water is still easier to access than food, so we doubled our delivery this month.

This program costs just a few cents per liter—and the impact is huge. Clean water prevents illness, helps with cooking, and brings real relief in a place where even basic hygiene is a challenge.

Children’s Clothing for Summer & Eid

As Eid approached, we responded to mothers asking for new clothes for their children.

As the heat rose and Eid approached, moms asked for clothes. We delivered full sets of summer and Eid clothing to over 700 children. Each set cost $40.

For families living in tents or makeshift shelters, clean clothes mean more than comfort—they bring dignity. Many kids hadn’t worn anything new in months. This gave them a reason to smile during Eid.

We delivered essential baby care packs to families struggling to care for infants under siege.

Parents across Gaza are struggling to care for their babies with almost no access to formula or diapers. We stepped in to meet that gap.

In May, 150 families received monthly packs of baby essentials. For moms raising children in displacement—with no stable shelter or supplies—these items made a huge difference. They gave babies a bit of comfort and gave mothers the strength to keep going.

Rent and Cash Support in Cairo, Egypt:

In Egypt, we supported displaced families with rent and urgent medical help.

In Egypt, displaced Palestinian families continue to face tough conditions. They can’t legally work, and many are still healing.

This month, we provided rent and medical aid to 12 families in Cairo. Your support gave them safety, care, and relief. They may be out of Gaza, but they’re not out of struggle—and your donations gave them room to recover.
